Traditional methods of making pharmaceuticals are well understood and well regulated; so why would we think about 3D printing them? Dr. Clive Roberts from the University of Nottingham's School of Pharmacy recently posed this question -- and provided insights from his group's work with additive manufacturing. Via several 3D printing methods, Roberts' group has shown that changing the architecture of a pill alters drug delivery capabilities, enhancing options for dosing, among other research.
