Male infertility affects about one-third of all couples dealing with the inability to conceive. Currently, determining whether male infertility is a contributing factor in any particular case requires the analysis of a semen sample in a clinical setting. That may soon change, however, as researchers from Brigham and Women's Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital have developed a 3D printed device and accompanying app that can be used on a smartphone in order to determine if sperm concentration is lower than ideal.
