Last weekend at Midwest RepRap Festival, Aleph Objects and IC3D Printers announced a collaboration that the former company has been waiting for for five years: they are working toward an open source filament. IC3D has stepped up as the partner Aleph Objects has been waiting for, and will be certifying their process through the Open Source Hardware Association. The full announcement will be made in May, around RAPID, but 3DPrint.com talked to IC3D and the LulzBot team now to learn about the preliminary steps of this new move in open sourcing.
