A 32-year-old woman from India was left in bad condition after a bout of spinal tuberculosis. Her first three vertebrae had been severely damaged, leaving her skull without support and with a high risk of quadriplegia. In a surgery that was the first of its kind in India and among the first in the world, doctors were able to replace her damaged vertebrae with a 3D printed titanium implant.
