3D Printed Hands Created for Children in Rwanda

Numerous child amputees in Rwanda will be benefiting from 3D printed prosthetics created recently by Rocky Hill School’s Interact Club and the New England Institute of Technology (NEIT). They created 15 Raptor hands, originating from the work of some of e-NABLE’s best designers. Staff and students watched as the prosthetics were created on an Objet30 Prime 3D printer with RGD720 Full Cure material, taking about 20 hours to print—with each hand costing a mere $50. They will be shipped to Rwanda and given to amputee children through the Enable Community Foundation, a nonprofit corporation created to help individuals around the world in need of prosthetic limbs. Government needs to subsidize these great projects - the people receiving them also can literally give back again to society.
With subsidizing many young entrepreneurs and developers can take time, say a day a week, for these kinds of efforts.
