Researchers from both UCLA and Sweden have made great strides in allowing for easier analysis of DNA structures while out in the field. With a 3D printed microscope attachment, images can be made of tissue samples. The images are then converted into data which can spot mutations inside tumors. The researchers state that if mass produced, these 3D printed devices could cost less than $500, and make it much easier to perform diagnostics in underdeveloped communities.
