A professor and practicing surgeon at the University of Saskatchewan was dealing with a particularly difficult surgical intervention when he realized that the brain modeling software that he had been using couldn't sufficiently detail the inner workings of the brain. He set about to develop a way to turn MRI data into a 3D mesh that could then be 3D printed, allowing him greater ability to understand the brain before the intervention. That led to the notion of using that same data to create a virtual reality environment in which to explore the intricacies and details of a particular brain. Working with software company Sprockety, that VR application became a reality. Read more at 3DPrint.com: https://3dprint.com/161556/virtual-reality-human-brain/
