Survey: Cost/Volume of Different 3D Printers

I have never send any kind of information about the cost per cubic mm of each printer. So I have have put together a google form and I would appreciate if everyone who has a printer would fill out the form. I need at least 30 people per printer to be able to consider the information about the printer to be valid for statistical purposes.


I plan on making a Inforgraph and posting the final results both here and in /r/reprap on reddit. Additionally there is an option to have the results emailed to you since I don't know if I will be returning to this forum. If you choose to have it emailed to you, You'll received the top 10 cheapest printers by print volume and a link to the original google spreadsheet with all the raw data so you can look at it if you so choose.


If anyone here posts in any other 3D printing forums please feel free to repost the link.

If a single reel contains 1.5 lbs (.7kg) of filament. The amount you print per lb/kg varies with the amount of raft and support material required, but it averages out to $.02-$.05 per cubic centimeter, or $.33-.82 per cubic inch. The easiest way to calculate the cost of the material that will be used for your model is to use the print preview option under the 3D Print menu. This will calculate the total weight of material used, including the raft and any support material. Then, use this formula: Cost to Print = Weight of Model x (Cost of Spool / Full Spool Weight)
