After winning first place in a drone design contest hosted by DJI and Shapeways, the design collective Frost Design’s 3D printed EXO 1 exoskeleton attachment for the DJI Phantom 4 drone has been put to good use. The lightweight and rugged 3D printed exoskeleton was created to accompany search and rescue missions, and has mounting points that can be used to equip GoPro cameras, lights, or any other properly fitting attachments. The 3D printed exoskeleton can be purchased through Shapeways for $113, while the Phantom 4 currently costs $1,199 through DJI’s website.
