It’s very exciting to see what can happen in the open-source community as one team improves upon the designs of another. In this case, the research team at MIT Lincoln Laboratory's Technology Office Innovation Laboratory (TOIL) has been working on enhancing e-NABLE’s 3D printed prosthetic hands and arms, creating greater movement and independence for the fingers, as well as developing ways for users to feel pressure, monitor temperature, and even use motorized features where muscle sensors allow the prosthetic to move in a desired way for gripping and more. The TOIL research team will continue development and testing over the next couple of months and then will be able to distribute the new designs to both e-NABLE and the Wounded Warrior Project.
