The courtroom is a somber place where the fates of many have been decided throughout history. This requires the verbal and visual skills of both the defense and prosecuting attorneys, as they put their cases forth to the jury. Today though with so much technology available, it would seem that the crime scene would be more accessible to the jurors, and easier to understand. With the advent of virtual reality, this may indeed be so, and especially with a new robotic system, the MABMAT, being developed by researchers at Durham University. While it would be available for under $400 as it stands now, still in development, the researchers see their robotic courtroom virtual reality tool as eventually being sold for even less due to the accessibility of systems like the Raspberry Pi and Arduino. Jurors will be able to see a complete view of the crime scene, as well as one that is accurate and not skewed by those involved in the case.
