The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced the inauguration of their new Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory, which will be dedicated to the study of 3D printing and other advanced manufacturing technologies for future space missions. Located at the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)’s Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL) in Harwell, Oxfordshire, the facility is equipped with a metal 3D printer as well as powerful microscopes, an X-ray CT machine, and several furnaces.
