While 3D printing is being used for numerous projects that deal with water, from recycling water bottles in an attractive manner to making hand pumps, nothing really substantial has been brought forth by researchers and scientists yet. While the potential is there for 3D printing to offer great benefit to the water treatment industry, the progress has been slow as researchers pointed out in a recently published paper, ‘Blurring Boundary Lines—The Emergence of 3D Printing in the Water and Wastewater Industry.’ It’s hoped that motivating factors will indeed spur progress as areas like China, Indonesia, and Singapore continue to explore options.
