    Shifted Bottom Layers

FullSizeRender.jpgI'm having problems with my bottom layers after intalling new extruder parts. The same Greg's extruder parts that came with my Makerfarm. Here are pictures. I checked all of the hardware that I can think of for anything being loose. Motor gear set screws, X and Y rail wheels, hot end is secure, belts. One of the cubes is at full scale and the other was printed at half scale. The thing I noticed is that one has shifted layers in the X axis and the other in the Y axis.

No pictures made it into the post. If your bed is mounted on springs, it can shift part way through a print. I've had this happen because I pulled too hard on the springs to get a part off the glass and sort of shifted the beds position. Later, on the next print with the bed shaking back and forth, the bed kind of re positions itself where it wants to be. And I got shifted layers.

I just noticed my hot end isn't as secure as I thought. On retraction it is shifting. See here:

One of my printers had a similar issue. To fix it I went out to Ace hardware found a washer about the size of the top of the hot end. I placed that washer on top ensuring the PTFE liner is through the washer.

This reduced the play in my hot end to nothing.

BLKKROW that did the trick I had a washer of the right size at home. Thank you very much.

Its not a problem. I have a Prusa IV3 12" and I found the hardest part was to find all of the "wiggle points" and prevent them from wiggling. After you do that your prints should be pretty good.
