I wrote here: http://3dprintboard.com/showthread.p...Multiplication about the need for a nation like Australia, with a well educated, but small population, to look towards using emerging technologies such as 3D printing to produce intellectual property that has real value, but not necessarily producing the objects incorporating this intellectual property.

Watching this House Business Committee hearing brings home to me the fact that the US Government is actively engaged with its people to facilitate the adoption of new technologies. I lament the fact that the Australian Federal Government does nothing like this. The only things our government wants to investigate is whether or not a politician spent money on hookers and a good time before he became a member of the government, or whether a TV Network paid an Australian citizen, convicted and imprisoned in another country for drug importation, for an interview on her release from prison, thereby upsetting the government of the other country.

It is little wonder that we Australians see our country being dug up and shifted overseas, with little of no economic or social benefit to us, and then losing our jobs because international manufacturers see Australia as a place where it is too expensive to make anything. Our present government is happy to "sell the farm" and let the Devil take the hindmost.

You Yanks are lucky in that in the area of innovation at least, your government is trying to get behind your efforts.
