If you are a fan of building models, as well as naval history, you'll love the latest project that came to Materialise via & designshop of the Netherlands. It was an incredible challenge that they undertook and completed in stunning detail. In re-creating the 17th century warship Seven Provinces, the Materialise team used the design created by & designshop, after refining it and preparing it for printing on their Materialise Mammoth Stereolithography 3D printer. The boat was created in one piece, thanks to the capabilities of the Mammoth, while the smaller parts were printed separately, requiring much more care and handling for pieces such as cannons and ropes—which were actually hand made. The project was completed in seven months, with master modelers and painters commissioned to put the finishing touches on the historical beauty.
