Shapeways EDU grants award professors and college students $1,000 twice yearly to aid innovative and cutting edge 3D printing applications. Last year, some Carnegie Mellon students used grant money for an annual thematic design show run by a student organization. This year, five more recipients display a range of projects such as a scuba flipper that can be worn on land by amputees, and a collection of 3D printed fossil replicas used in research and all available via open source. The projects listed here express the diversity of 3D printed applications -- so check these winners out to see exactly what the near future holds for the technology at 3DPrint.com: https://3dprint.com/129359/shapeways-edu-grants/
