Three youngsters were the beneficiaries of 3D printed tracheal splints which not only changed their lives, but saved them altogether. At the time of surgeries, three-month-old Kaiba, five-month-old Ian, and 16-month-old Garrett were all suffering from severe tracheobronchomalacia, which causes the windpipe to collapse periodically. Due to the invention of and surgical insertion of 3D printed bioresorable splints, all three children now are living active lives and nearly all the negative consequences associated with their disease have been eliminated.
