Adam Summers, a professor at the University of Washington's Friday Harbor Laboratories, has an ambitious goal: he wants to scan every fish species in existence. It's estimated that there are about 30,000 of them, so he has his work cut out for him, but you can look at the 40 or so he's scanned and uploaded to the Open Science Framework so far. Summers' project is creating a database for researchers to study the bone structures of fish, which are sometimes the only way to discern subtle differences between species. He's also 3D printing some of his scans and scaling them up to better study tiny fishes. Read more at 3DPrint.com: http://3dprint.com/118125/adam-summers-fish-scans/
