Designers at Moscow's Bolshoi Theatre were faced with a bit of a dilemma when creating the set pieces for a recent production of the ballet La Bayadère (The Temple Dancer). The set required a large, realistic elephant, which could have required a lot of time, money, and material. Luckily, the theatre owns a RangeVision 3D scanner, which the designers used to scan a small elephant figurine. The scan was then scaled up several times and constructed using a CNC foam cutter.
