Some extinct species, like the dinosaurs, are well-known to everyone. Others, like certain species of birds, have been mostly forgotten - but a collaboration between scientists at Massey University, the Auckland War Memorial Museum and the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa is changing that. The scientists are using 3D scanners to create digital models of extinct species, which will then be made easily accessible to the public.
