    Will 3D Printing Allow Us to Live Forever?

    Lecturer Simon McKeown of Teesside University in the UK has started a project called Preserved Memories which is an effort to collect information about the physical and mental habits of individuals in order to create a digital avatar for them which could conceivably 'live on' after they die. The process for creating this avatar is made possible with advanced 3D data collection technologies and the enormous amount of data we all share through social media. McKeown seems to believe that this digital avatar could prevent us from ever having to experience the loss of a loved one. However, the entire idea has only made me realize how much more important it is to turn off and interact in real life with the people we have here and now.     Why wait until you're dead? I would love to be able to have a nearly nearly perfect digital copy of myself that can mess with all that 'social media' crap for me.

    Then again, other people who know me might find that a bit creepy.
