Half Of All Homes to Have 3D printers By 2030: Strategy Analytics

Strategy Analytics just released a report predicting that over 50% of all households in Europe and the US will own 3D printers

In addition they estimate that the market will be worth $70 billion annually by 2030.

    Opinions?

Need more widespread services, products, and prices of printers will have to drop to a fraction. Reaching 50% means that printers can't cost much more than laser printers do now. If we could print spare parts and someone gave out the schematics, and you didn't need to worry about IP rights, etc, this could grow. Too many ifs to predict anything yet. I do not yet see the reason why everyone should own one.

I think it's kinda ridiculous to predict what will happen in 15 years from now. It's just impossible to do. Perhaps there will be some other technology that makes 3D Printing pointless by then
