    What firmware?

Firmware for the peachy to control the laser/mirrors I'd assume.

The entire thing is pure analog electrical.

I suppose they could have used digital potentiometers on there to allow for quick and reliable changes to the settings. Having an I2C/SPI programming interface for those would make sense. However, that seems unlikely - 99% of the time cheap analog trimpots are by far the better option.

Realistically, they're almost certainly just test points. Autofocus outputs, analogue outputs from the power supply and intermediate amplifier stages, external power inputs for when they're testing on a bench without a USB port handy, etc.

The arrow points to 3 of 4 jumper spots ... we are trying to make jumpers available to switch between ac and dc coupled mode ( alto currently our software may only support ac coupled mode)
and also a jumper for laser on and off... This is part of making the printer super easy to hack, it will help those that want to ad features using a micro controller for example.
We are doing everything we can to enable community modified printer designs, Peachy printer defines its self by being hack-able, kit-able, Adjust-able, and Freedom Respecting
that means you will see lots of screw terminals, jumper blocks and broken out pins, and descriptive silk screening on our circuits.
