Mary Poppins Performance Benefits from 3D Printed Props

A community theatre program in New Hampshire has discovered the value of 3D prop printing, as maker Ben April created a stage prop for the Amato Center for the Performing Arts' recent production of Mary Poppins. Affiliated with the Boys and Girls Club of Souhegan Valley, the performance required a breakaway urn that father George Banks drops and breaks night after night. Designed in SketchUp, converted into GCode with Repetier and Slic3r technologies, and printed on April's Printrbot Simple, this was a "LONG project" -- and a successful one. He's made the design available on Thingiverse, so if your theatre will be needing a breakable prop, you're set to print.
