A 77-year-old cancer patient in in Croatia has a new lease on life after a successful surgery which involved the insertion of the first all acrylic, 3D printed vertebra. After discovering metastatic cancer, doctors gave Josip Lopac a terminal diagnosis. With the idea of replacing the cancer in his seventh vertebra with the acrylic 3D printed piece, they used a precise scan and then made a complete replica of his bone.
