NASA has successfully tested a 3D printed turbopump by subjecting it to a battery of 15 tests that were designed to simulate the high stress environment it would experience as part of a rocket engine. 3D printing the turbopump allowed for it to be created with a 55% reduction in parts and cut the development time in half. This is taking the relationship between outerspace and 3D printing to a whole new level - now we aren't just seeing 3D printing happening in space, but actually used to create the vehicles that get people there in the first place.
