Dr. Mike North--who hosts science shows on both YouTube and the Discovery Channel--broke his fibula recently, and he was less than pleased at the idea his taxing travel schedule would be inconvenienced by a traditional leg cast. North says he wanted a solution which was both durable and easy to remove, so he sought out the the designers and engineers at Studio FATHOM. North says FATHOM used their expertise in 3D printing and additive manufacturing to come up with a cast which includes an array of technologies from a gyroscope to lighting and speakers.
