Mexican electronics engineering student Krissia Quesney Nevarez designed and produced an inexpensive drone made from 3D printed parts and off-the-shelf electronics to help small farmers monitor the condition of their crops. The drone takes aerial photographs and provides near-infrared data. Controlled remotely using open source software, it is a project the 22-year-old student devised while participating in a 12-week summer internship at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. The internship program is sponsored by the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship initiative. Read more about the project here: http://3dprint.com/84388/3d-printed-farm-drone/
