Kris Cleven, an oilfield product worker by trade, has turned to 3D design and printing to present himself with a challenge to create functional objects. As Tropical Storm Bill approached Texas, the Houston-based maker stocked up on big water bottles--which he didn't end up needing. After Bill passed, Cleven decided to create a hand pump, using Solidworks 2015 and his Ultimaker 2, to get water from the large bottles. With an older style pump design, the finished piece is aesthetically pleasing and fully functional. Cleven's design is available for download at Thingiverse.
