Two Industrial Design students at Philadelphia University’s Masters Program named Matt Flail and Tim Ganter used their thesis project to explore ways to use 3D scanning and 3D printing technology to make shoe technology better. Their thesis is titled FOOTPRINT: 3D Printed Custom Algorithmic Footwear and uses advanced 3D imaging and 3D manufacturing to create shoes customized to address all of the specific needs and medical requirements of a specific person’s foot.
