These 3D Printed Drones fly to the South Pole!
A video was released recently showing the deployment of 3D printed drones by an expedition team from China working in Antartica. The drones were deployed partly to test their performance under the extreme conditions at the South Pole but also because of their value as information gathering mechanisms. The 3D printed drones are 1/3 the size of traditional drones and are light and compact enough to be easily portable. The use of 3D printing to produce these machines helps to lower the cost, speed up the production, and make it easier to make special modifications to the design on an as needed basis.
