In another big piece of news for the 3D printing industry, particularly 3D Systems, and Startasys, Ingram Micro Inc. has announced that they will begin selling 3D printers wholesale.


For those who don't know, Ingram Micro is actually the worlds largest technology wholesaler and is a Fortune 100 company. They have announced agreements with two of the worlds largest consumer based 3D printing companies, Stratasys, creator of the Makerbot line of printers, and 3D Systems. Ingram Micro will likely expand to other companies as well in the future.

"Document imaging solutions,and in particular 3D printers, represent a growing and widely untapped sales and service opportunity for our channel partners who sell into vertical markets such as education and retail, as well those targeting the needs of SMBs," says Ryan Grant, senior director document imaging and managed print, Ingram Micro U.S. "What's more is that 3D printers complement a variety of specialized software applications that are utilized in the design space, and offer channel partners a differentiated sales and ongoing service opportunity that many don't realize is available to them," he continued.
