Online shoe shopping can be tricky, not least because not all companies treat shoe sizes the same way. Thanks to 3D scanning technology, Shoefitr is able to provide e-commerce an easier way to compare and match fits across different manufacturers' sizing. Amazon, that giant in the e-commerce realm, recently--and quietly, for an undisclosed amount--acquired Shoefitr, adding to its 3D technology holdings. Speculation is rife that Shoefitr's technology will be integrated into Amazon's Zappos subsidiary, or even use the 3D scans to eventually create fully 3D printed inner boots for shoes to create a custom fit, every time.
