REIFY is Merging Music with Physical 3D Printed Art

New York’s REIFY is making waves in beautiful ways, turning soulful music into 3D printed sculpture. The team, made up of designers, programmers, and artists, is creating a way to take alternative materials like bronze and even coconut husk and translate your favorite song into tangible form. Using a MakerBot Replicator 1 for their sculptures, they’ve 3D printed some amazing works that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but they also play back the original auditory inspiration with the use of REIFY’s smartphone app. Check out the full article for more details: http://3dprint.com/57356/reify-3d-printed-sculptures/

The theme from The Twilight & Rod Serling saying, “There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man ... a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination.”

REIFY is a New York City-based group of designers and engineers who created what they call a “cross-sensory experience” which they say combines platforms to create “the best of both physical and digital music technology, and create a new way to experience music.” They call the 3D printed objects which are key to the process totems, and they're visual representations of an artist's song. Each one includes coding and hardware which can be played back on a mobile phone or tablet via an app called Stylus. REIFY has now launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign seeking to find backers to raise $150K by August 13.
