Congressman From NY Proposes New 3 Printed Firearm Ban

The law is lagging behind recent innovations in DIY gun smithing such as 3D printing and milling. Now Steve Israel, a Congressman from New York state, is reintroducing legislation aimed at banning 3D printed, or for that matter, all fully-plastic, firearms. Israel says his legislation isn't specifically aimed at 3D printed weapons, but it would seem to cover them. Michael Weinberg, an analyst who works as general counsel at 3D printing service bureau Shapeways, told WIRED his company was not in favor of any bill which would make 3D printing a gun illegal, and gun rights groups from Defense Distributed to the NRA to Come and Take It Texas have already expressed their displeasure at any such proposed legislation. The only response to this should be to point and laugh at him, then vote him out of office. Unless the US Govt confiscated every printer and put a countrywide ban on 3D printers and any materials that can be used to assemble 3D printers there is no way to stop a criminal, who by definition will just ignore this law.
