A report from 6Wresearch says educational and medical applications in the 3D printing market will see significant growth between now and 2021. At this point, India primarily import 3D printers from China, the U.S. and Germany, but government initiatives aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing will result in more local device creation over the course of the forecast period. Once factor holding back the market for 3D printersis that CNC milling machines are cheaper on the whole there than printing technology, but a reluctance among consumers to purchase 3D printers will change as prices for 3D printing systems decline. The report also notes that established players such as Stratasys, 3D Systems and Optomec will gradually expand their brand awareness and marketing efforts in India via partnerships and alliances.
