Safety scissors are favored by many for use by small children, as sharper blades are dangerous. Carl Fang, a Chinese man with a little brother, decided to create his own pair of scissors to help save his brother from more accidents, as he'd already had several. Fang's sketches translated well into Rhino3D before being sent to Fang's EcubMaker 3D printer, a Chinese model similar to a MakerBot Replicator 2. The scissors took less than 2 hours of printing time and were assembled with a small metal screw -- and they're fully functional to cut through paper. Fang's design is available on Thingiverse.
