Russian researchers at the Russian National Research Nuclear University may have discovered a better way to work on regenerating damaged human bone. Using animal bone as a 3D printing material in the form of a biological hydroxyapatite, researchers found when it was applied to the bone it hardened and helped the tissue to regenerate and then fell away. Because the material is biological it works to fool the bone into regeneration of tissue on its own. The researchers think this may also be feasible in terms of pain management, using it for on-site painkiller injections for chronically aching joints.
