Next up for Bold Machines? A Creatue Called Nohwitz

Bold Machines, an initiative at Stratasys started up by former MakerBot CEO Bre Pettis, has been fairly quiet on the news front lately, following a bold entrance upon the September launch, including news about and 3D printable figures for a 3D printed feature film called 'Margo.' For the last few months, though, Bold Machines hasn't been on the radar as much, as they've been pretty quiet since about year-end. A few days ago, though, Chicago-based artist Ryan McClure -- who designs toys, prints, and illustrations for Rocketboy Customs, his company -- posted a blog about his new 3D printed character, Nohwitz. The character, it turns out, has been developed as part of a partnership with Bold Machines over the last six months. We still don't know much about Nohwitz (the "office know-it-all that absolutely knows nothing") except that the fun design is modular, and he will officially debut in May. Character artist and designer Ryan McClure has come up with a module figurine he calls 'Nohwitz,' a “Cubicle Creature” meant to represent the office know-it-all. The main design incorporates a blue skin tone with fangs and hands, and the 3D printed characters can be assembled into a variety of different versions. Built with snap on features, they come with three different hand options and three different tooth options. The figures were all printed by Bold Machines, The Innovation Workshop at Stratasys led by Bre Pettis, and they use Stratasys, MakerBot, and Solidscape 3D printers in partnership with innovators to “explore new approaches to industrial and personal applications and fabrication.” You can read the whole story here: http://3dprint.com/68208/nowhitz-all-show/
