    3D Printed DIY Hololens

Sean Hall is a VR game programmer in Georgia, and when he saw various crowdfunding campaigns for the next generation of VR headsets, he decided he'd like to take a crack at making one of his own design -- all in anticipation of Microsoft's release of their virtual reality HoloLens product, announced earlier this year. What he came up with, his "DIY HoloLens," is a nice twist on the standard designs that uses a mirror and plexiglass to create a "holographic" projection of a smartphone display. Based on an old illusionist's technique, "Pepper's Ghost," the set relies on essentially mirror trickery to project an image before the wearer's eyes.
