3D Printing Volcanic Models to Better Realize Dangers

Dr. Ian Saginor has been 3D printing volcanic topography to help public officials in Costa Rica and El Salvador understand the hazards involved in living near them, and he says the current demand for his models and the information they impart is high. Saginor says he's seeking crowdfunding to purchase a high quality 3D printer to cut the cost of his models, which he distributes free to educators and officials, by as much as 90%. I printed out El Capitan Yosemite cliff and it came out awesome. 3D printers are ideal for topology because you can see the individual elevation layers.
