Connecticut maker Carmelito Andrade is one up on Mother Nature with his easy-to-make, 3D printed Traction Spikes. The Traction Spikes, which consist of a 3D printed plate that attaches via a velcro strap to the bottom of your shoes, use regular 32 x ½” screws that dig into icy surfaces and prevent dangerous falls. Even a pair of sneakers can be converted for safer navigation of icy terrain. Andrade shares the STL file instructions for this timely project on his Instructables page.
