3D Printing and Robotics Solve Plesiosaur Mystery

For a long time, scientists have been puzzled by the plesiosaur - namely, by how its flippers worked to propel it through the water. Unlike most flippered animals, the plesiosaur had four nearly identical flippers, which means that its mobility would have been quite different from any other animal's. But a team of researchers reproduced the plesiosaur's movements using a robot with 3D printed flippers, and discovered the key to how the plesiosaur swam.
