Doctor 3D Prints Ultrasounds for Visually Impaired

Thanks to the Voluson E10 ultrasound machine by GE which allows for 3D printing of images, parents in Brazil have been enjoying taking away more than the mere traditional pictures. Dr. Heron Werner offers this service to patients, and has extended that now to the visually impaired, beginning with Ana Paula Silveira, who was able to feel her unborn child’s developing features at 12 weeks. The models also serve as educational tools for doctors trying to explain surgical planning techniques or health issues such as a cleft palate.
