Rock Print Offers Reverse Concrete Column 3D Printed with String

Teams from the Self-Assembly Lab at MIT and Gramazio Kohler Research of ETH Zurich came together to make their first structure employing the concept of ‘the jamming phenomenon,’ using reverse concrete. With Rock Print, a towering column made with rocks and 3D printed string acting as glue, they are offering a new concept in construction which allows for a sturdy structure to be built—but as soon as disassembly is required, it’s as easy as winding the string to pull everything down—sweep up—and it’s as if nothing was ever there.
