3D Printing Volcanos out of Paper for Research

Dr. Ian Saginor's Volcano Terrain Project is now printing volcanic models using an Mcor IRIS 3D printer, creating 3D models made using paper material to show those living near volcanoes the potential for danger. He presented his model to the students and teachers at Hernán Vardas RamÃ*rez elementary school in Juan Viñas, near the Turrialba volcano in Costa Rica. Students immediately understood what the models were showing them, with 100% of them responding that they found it easier to find their locations on the 3D printed model than they did on a 2D map--and 95% said they would take one home to show their families, if they could.
