Can I install different firmware on a ramps 2 plus board ?

My new (born this week) he3d k200 delta is currently running repetier host, version 0.91 I believe.
Basically all it does is act as a glorified status display.
I can't even see an option to run a file from the sd card slot.

Coming from a couple of replicator clones running sailfish and whatever the one before that was - which lets you do an awful lot with the printer besides show temps and status.
My question is pretty obvious. Can I run other firmwares on this board, and is there a specific version of sailfish, tarpon, swordfish, tuna etc which can be installed to make her a bit more independant of the computers and not have to rely on the usb link to do anything useful.
