Ford to Use Highly Detailed 3D Maps in Driverless Cars

Ford recently uploaded video as some of their new technology is tested, allowing driverless cars to continue to operate even under poor, non-optimal weather conditions. Their new system includes the same LiDar technology used in other driverless cars combined with custom made, high resolution 3D maps. These maps aren’t everyday Google Maps, though--they are highly detailed, and include any relevant road-markings, traffic signs, landmarks, and even local topography.
