Im looking right now at the Beast from Cultivate 3d. Anyone using one out there? Its price seems to be good and built pretty heavy looks like.
Its hard to find a large printer under $2000. Maybe there are others I don't know about????

Never heard of it. I am impressed for sub $2k build it yourself price. In the future I may invest in one like that, as I would like to be able to print custom motorcycle parts.
Its interesting too that they can print four identical objects at same time with 4 print heads to speed things up. I like that feature. I have my money saved and going to buy soon.
It sounds like an amazing feature to print four things at once. However people can have issues getting dual print heads at the same height. I cant imagine having to keep 4 print heads dialed in to within .05mm of each other. If i were to buy this printer (and it looks compelling) id put a laser on one, a router bit on another, and something else on the third.
Yes your idea would be cool.
Hyrel makes one that also supports 4 extruders, costs a bit more ($4 or 5k, I forget which, ask them), and seems pretty easy to level. Not nearly as large as the "Beast" though, at around 200mm^3.
If you are looking for something more professional that is. They are also supposedly making a larger model.
they want $1500 to build it for you !
lol that's got to be one bastard of a build.
But at the kit price, I don't think you'll find much to beat the print volume.
Just bear in mind it's a bowden setup - so if you were planning on doing much with flexible filaments, bear in mind that will be difficult. Not impossible but you'll need the stiffer filaments like polyflex and semi-flex, rather than the rubbery ones like ninja flex and filaflex.
Particularly when you consider the print height, it's got to push that filament a bloody long way and anything with flex is going to really struggle.
Dang, beat me to it. Thanks!
"Rumor" (fact) has it that Hyrel is building a significantly larger model soon to become available, but again. Talk to them.
you might wnat to also look at the makerfarm 12' with the new upgrades. coomes in at around $1000.
12x11.5x13.5 very good build volume. It does mention soldering irons - so that'd rule me out :-)
But for the money - really nice bit of kit.

Actually the replicator clones with the 7.2 firmware and up will print the same thing simultaneously from both extruders. it's an option in the control panel, someone mentioned on here a while back.
I haven't tried it yet - but I will :-)
Yes looks interesting and its price is down to $675 which is good. Will read what it has for level bed and if heated etc. Looks like their upgrade kit has self leveling bed. The soldering doesn't bother me, I have done plenty of that in my Ham Radio hobby.
Thanks for the info about it.
I'd go with the upgrade, simply because it puts the machine into a whole different category.
Well worth the extra.
Its pretty hard to go past the 3DP Workbench. It's not just a Kickstarter campaign it a properly engineered bit of kit which therefore costs a bit more than $2000. http://3dsl.com.au/3dp-workbench/
I would be surprized if it prints better then the Cubicon Single Plus system, and the Cubicon Single plus is alot
less in price.
yes but according to the cubicon website it's print volume is pretty standard:
240 x 190 x 200 mm (W x D x H)
Not exactly even close to the 3dp - or any of the other printers mentioned in this thread.
Look, we have no objection to people pushing their own machines - but at least try and push it in a relevant thread.
This is not that thread :-)
i think there are 900 printer manufacturers , about 890 too many if you ask me. Im all of open source, modularity etc, but its simply WAY too crowded of a space right now.
Even if/when cubicon makes a bigger printer they are just 1 in a sea of many. Ill stick with my gmax right now. big volume, and stunning quality
I like them all and if I had the money I would buy them all:) Its all good for the 3d printing world and makers world.
I look forward to more cool things to come.
Well looks like we have another new large print area printer and the price is right and its here in America too.
Folger Tech FT-5 Large Scale 3D Printer Kit
This guy has one going and looks like a nice build too. I looked at the instructions. I thnk Im going to try one of these.

Hard to beat that price and they have even a CNC add on coming sounds like which I don't need since I have
a X-Carve big machine but thats still cool for other people for the future.
Now a nice large printer that is pre built too with lots of features and lower price then others the same size pre builts.
Wombot Modus 3D printer 16"x16"x20" Australian made pre-built but they have a dealer here in the USA, I like that. I think Im going to go with this machine, others using it are happy. If you want a large print area and pre-built its hard to beat looks like. Just what I think and Ive looked at alot of them. There is a heated bed for it too and auto levelling comes standard with it the heated bed is add-on.
